(NS 2114 4986) Bushglen Mount (NR)

OS 6" map (1970)

Bush Glen Mount, listed as a doubtful fort by Christison, is described by Smith as 14 paces in diameter, 4ft high on one side and 2ft on the other. It is planted and surrounded by a tree-ring.

J Smith 1895; D Christison 1893

Bushglen Mount consists of a mound 14.0m in diameter and 1.0m high, in the centre of a stone wall tree-ring.

Visited by OS (DS) 12 September 1956

As described above.

Surveyed at 1:2500.

Visited by OS (JTT) 22 October 1964

This mound is much disturbed, and its extent is obscured by the raised and irregular interior of the plantation. It visibly measures some 15.5m in diameter and 1.2m high and could have been much larger. Its situation on the summit of rising ground, and its appearance, suggest that it is either a barrow or a cairn.

Resurveyed at 1:2500.

Visited by OS (JRL) 2 November 1982
