(NR 5601 7171) Standing Stone (NR)

OS 6" map, Argyllshire, 2nd ed., (1900)

This standing stone is a large block of whinstone about 7ft high and 2 1/2ft thick, situated in an arable field just west of Ardfernal.

Name Book 1878.

This triangular-shaped standing stone which is orientated E-W, measures 1.22m high, 1.1m wide and 0.3m thick at base, dimensions which do not correspond with those of Name Book, and the stone does not appear to have been broken.

Surveyed at 1/10,000.

Visited by OS (J B) 4 May 1978.
