(NO 5447 3698) Balmachie, a mansion house or castle, is entered in the Valuation Roll of 1682, and was a plain but substantial building.

The present farmhouse of Balmachie is entirely modern and no structural evidence of an early building was found about the farm. The farmer knew of no such mansion.
