(NO 4074 3780) Hut Circle (NR)
OS 6" map, (1971)
The vague outline of a hut-circle formed by a bank of earth and stones 1.5m broad and 0.3m high. From crest to crest its diameter is 4.5m. There is a break in the bank - 2m wide-in the NW sector. There are no indications of other structures in the immediate vicinity.
The hollowed centre is filled with field stones leaving no trace of the paving mentioned by the earlier authorities who also record the finding of stone hammers, horses' teeth, animal bones and charcoal as well as a 7" square flat piece of grey sandstone which bore 4 cups on one side and was in the possession of W McNicoll, Tealing House in 1881.
A Jervise 1875; J R Allen 1881; Visited by OS(JLD) 8 May 1950.
