(Name: centred NO 4035 2298) Kinnear (NR) (Remains of)

OS 6" map (1921)

There is the fragment of a tower on the farm of Easter Kinnear, standing to a height of 17ft. The masonary has been rubble, with pinnings.

RCAHMS 1933, visited 1927

NO 4035 2301 The remains of this tower, 6.0m long and 1.1m thick, are situated in a commanding position upon the summit of a rocky knoll, with steep natural slopes on the NW, and more gradual slopes on the other sides. Along the NW edge of the Knoll is a grass-covered bank, 2.0m wide, 0.5m high and 37.0m long, and a similar bank, 11.0m long, runs along the south side. These probably represent the remains of a courtyard wall.

Visited by OS (DS) 23 October 1956 and (WDJ) 4 June 1970
