Fragment of castle at N of Pitkindie steading belonging to the Boyds of Pitkindie consisting of moulded jamb and chamfered lintel (not in original position) dated PB 1601.

This lintel and contemporary moulded door-jamb have been inserted into a doorway at NO 2488 3173 on the north side of the steading. No other traces or information regarding a possible castle at Pitkindie were found.

The stout edge-roll and the lintel that are in re-use in a doorway at the rear of the combine-shed on the N side of Pitkindie are apparently all that remain of Pitkindie tower-house (NO23SW 15). The lintel is wrought with a mitred chamfer and bears an heraldic shield on which there are the initials PB (Patrick Boyd) and the date 1601.
