NMAS 1892 Catalogue

A polished greenstone axe, 4 1/2" in length by 2 1/2" across its face, found in a fox-earth at Achallater, Braemar (Auchallater: NO 15 88) was given to the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS) - AF 207 - in 1882 by Andrew Kerr.

The stone axe that is held in the Royal Museum of Scotland under accession number NMS AF 207 has been petrologically attributed to group XXIV, which comprises objects of calc-silicate hornfels from the axe-factory at Creag na Caillich, Killin (NN53NE 1).
