OS 6" map, Perthshire, 2nd ed., (1902)

'A small spring well near Elcho Castle receiving its name from the water of it being Sir William Wallace's favourite drink while residing at Elcho Castle.'

Name Book 1860.

The well appears to be a natural spring in a patch of wet ground.

Visited by OS (R D L) 11 June 1964.

This site was not visited during the course of revision survey.
