'When Kirton of Mailer burying ground was levelled a number of years ago the workmen came upon the foundation of a small pre-Reformation Chapel'. '..the 'Priest's Croft' across the road may have been the site of the priest's cell, while the field above the cottages at Kirkton was called 'Paradise'.

In the burial-ground is a heraldic stone re-used as gravestone, carved with impaled arms of John Ross of Craigie and his wife Agnes Lyon. Illegible inscription along top of stone. Name 'McCulloch' incised on one edge (his grave). Dimensions - height 0.485m, width 0.43m, thickness 0.14m.

Nothing is visible of the chapel that stood at Kirkton of Mailer, although a number of architectural fragments have been re-used as grave markers or are lying loose within the rectangular burial-ground.
Mailor appears to have been a pendicle of Forteviot before the Reformation and did not achieve parochial status.
