(NO 0837 0076) Hall Yard (NR)
OS 6" map, Perthshire, 1st ed., (1854).
In 1796, the surrounding ditch was 15 - 20ft wide and some 5ft deep below the level of the Yard. However, by 1854, the ditches were filled up, and the area had been ploughed over, leaving nothing to be seen but two trees at the SW corner, and its form could only be traced by its being a little higher than the surface of the field.

A little to the S of Wood of Coldrain farm is a square enclosure known as 'Hall Yard', extending to little more than an acre. It is surrounded by a ditch and had contained a castle, traditionally said to have been a hunting seat of the Murrays.

All that can be seen of this enclosure is a generally flat, stony, rectangular platform in a ploughed field. It appears to have measured approximately 60 by 45m, and the castle probably stood in the centre. The name is not now in use, and nothing significant has been found at the site.
