(Name centred NN 9462 5650) Chapel (NR) (Site of)

OS 25" map, Perthshire, (1902)

There was certainly a church at Dunfallandy, but it has quite disappeared.

J H Dixon 1925.

This chapel is referred to by Mitchell as a pre-Reformation chapel attached to Logierait, but he also says the foundation was earlier than that and it was probably originally the same date as Logierait (NN95SE)

H Mitchell 1923.

There is no trace of the chapel. The site, on the point of a spur, is occupied by the private burial ground of the lairds of Dunfallandy, but outside the S and W sides of this are suggestions of stonework which may indicate the remains of the former burial ground wall. If so, it seems to have been circular or oval, c.20.0m in diameter.

Visited by OS (A A) 17 April 1975.
