NN 973 554. The Old Laird's House, a cruck-framed building, stands behind the farmhouse of Pitcastle. It is now uninhabited, roofless and derelict, but its chief interest lies in the fact that it was evidently erected, probably in the 17th century, as a residence of a small laird, and therefore stands apart from other cruck-framed buildings in Scotland - mostly cottages or small farms.

The building, 55' long, is built of rubble masonry set in mud mortar, with originally, thatched roof and unglazed windows. There were three ground floor rooms and two above.
