(NN 7755 2238) Coney Hill is a mote (castle mound) separated from the ridge to NW (of which it is the spur) by a deep but partly filled ditch.
OS 6" map annotated by O G S Crawford, 28 April 1940.
This motte consists of a natural earth and stone mound c.8.0m in maximum height, the top of which has been levelled to form a roughly oval platform measuring c.36.0m E-W by 22.0m transversely. The mound, which has recently been extensively landscaped is separated from the ridge to the NW by a dry ditch now about 8.0m wide by 2.0m deep.
The path up the east side and the bank in the NW corner of the platform are the result of landscaping and are not original (J Craig, Coneyhill Cottage, Comrie).
Resurveyed at 1/2500.
