Not to be confused with incised 'Mass Stone' and possible preaching site near Cranachan Bridge (Cranachan Road) at NN 2952 8467, for which see NN29SE 5.

A large boulder with an incised cross, on top of Maol Doire (Meall Doire : NN 291 812), is traditionally said to mark the site where Mass was celebrated during times of Roman Catholic proscription (ie. anytime between 1560 and 1793, but probably circa 1700).

Information from Ts 'Glen Roy', Anon, undated.

At NN 2904 8129, near the summit of Meall Doire, is an angular boulder erratic, (A), 2.0m by 2.3m and 1.0m high bearing on its south-west vertical face an incised cross 0.52m high and 0.33m across.

About 150.0m ENE is a boulder, (B), 1.3m by 1.3m and 0.8m high, with indication of a roughly incised cross 0.1m by 0.1m on its northerly side.

Surveyed at 1/10,000.

Visited by OS (J M) 13 February 1979.

Scheduled as Cross Incised Stone, 60m NW of Pillar, Meall Doire.

Information from Historic Scotland, scheduling document dated 13 December 2000.
