(NN 528 084) Tom na Boide (NR)
OS 6" map, (1958)
Tom a Moidh (or the Court Hill) on which the chief of the district, in former times, held his Court of Justice. Situated nearby are Tom na Calleach (the Wives' Knoll - NN 526 090) where the women sat apart, and Tom na Feile (the market Knoll - NN 527 088)
A F Hutchison 1879.
These three hillocks are now submerged under a reservoir constructed in 1965. No local information about the site or its correct name could be found (Name Book destroyed).
Visited by OS (R D) 18 October 1968.
Tom na Boide is a perfectly good name form and should be retained until a less suspect authority than Hutchison can be found to support any alternative spelling.
Information from Dr W F H Nicolaisen to OS.
