"A causeway called Main Street ran between the Cathedral (NM22SE 5) and the Nunnery (NM22SE 14).

No remains of Main Street now exist, but the present road from the Nunnery to McLean's Cross (NM22SE 1) is on the site of the ancient road".

Name Book 1878; Imperial Gazatteer of Scotland nd.

Although part of the "Main Street" is occupied by a ploughed field, no trace of it is visible.
