(NJ 8644 2816) Urns and Human Remains found AD 1837 (NAT)

Three urns, of baked clay, containing human bones and ashes, were found in 1837 by Mr J Strath, Cauldhame, whilst digging.

Name Book 1868.

The site is on a hill-top otherwise no further information.

Visited by OS (RL) 5 April 1972.

The location indicated falls on a S-facing shoulder at an altitude of 119m OD.

NMRS, MS/712/80.

The present whereabouts of these urns, which were found in about 1837, are not known.
