"A well-known name of a spring well but with no tradition, although believed locally to be an antiquity." (Shown extant on 1st edition 6" OS map.)

Name Book 1871.

The farmer at St Johns Wells recalls St John's Well, a natural spring, being filled in about 30 years ago and of which there is now no trace.
