(NJ 6378 3289) Stone Axe found (NAT)

OS 6" map, (1959)

A stone axe was discovered a few years before 1867 and retained at the farm of Colpy. Its exact find-spot was not known.

Name Book 1867.

No further information.

Visited by OS (NKB) 24 February 1969.

Name cited as Colpy Farm.

NMRS, MS/712/62.

The present whereabouts of this stone axe is not known. It was retained at Colpy Farm after its discovery prior to 1867, and it is likely to have been one of the axes from the farm that were collected by JG Callander in the early part of the 20th century and subsequently bequeathed to Marischal Museum, Aberdeen.

Information from RCAHMS (JRS), 14 June 1996.
