In 1860, the stones were removed from this cairn revealing what appeared to be a cist containing red and white ashes. Also found were two stones, 18 inches by 12 inches with hollowed centres apparently caused by sharpening iron tools upon them.
Callander (1916), referring specifically to this cairn, states that there were no sepulchral remains, but three stone cups were found, one of which is in the National Museum of Antiquites of Scotland (NMAS).

Nothing is now visible of this cairn. Its site lies in a conifer plantation 80m W of Woodside Cottage. A long-handled steatite cup or ladle in Marischal Museum, Aberdeen (ABDUA: 17409) may have been found in the cairn. Two other stone cups were recovered from the cairn, of which one decorated example is in the Royal Museum of Scotland (AQ 119), and the other is lost.
