OS 6" map, Banffshire, 2nd ed., (1905)

A number of small cairns roughly piled into a conical heap said to be the graves of those who fell in a battle between the early Scots and the Danes.

Name Book 1868.

Area centred NJ 4837 5263. About a dozen small stoney mounds were seen in the area. They are stone clearance heaps not cairns.

Revised at 1/2500.

Visited by OS (WDJ) 5 February 1964.

These mounds have almost disappeared due to forestry operations. There is no trace of an associated field system.

Visited by OS (RL) 27 June 1967.
