NJ16SE 6 1633 6349.

To the east of Newton House, by the roadside, stand the remains of an oblong dovecot some of whose walls appear to have been rebuilt. It is roofless, covered in ivy, has a modern doorway and on the wall next the garden, of which it practically forms a part, are still to be seen the cross stones and upright stones of the pigeon nests.

R Douglas 1931.

NJ 1633 6349 The remains of this dovecot are as described by Douglas (1931) The blocked up pigeon nests in the west wall are all that remain to indicate a former dovecot. A large wooden door is in the south wall and manure is now stored within the dovecot walls.

Visited by OS (W D J) 3 December 1962.
