OS 6" map, Ross-shire, 2nd ed., (1907)
While trenching the field in which the remains of Achnacloich Castle stand and within the supposed circumference of the site, three stone coffins were found, each containing a human skeleton, but in the usual position. Two urns were also found but both were unfortunately broken. The whole were reburied on the spot on which they were discovered. Black pottery was also found.
Name Book 1874; R Maclean 1886.
No further information was found during field investigation. The site, in a grass pasture field, is featureless.
Visited by OS (W D J) 8 May 1963.
