(NH 7161 8839) Cairn (NR) (remains of)

OS 1:10,000 map, (1973)

The remains of a cairn almost entirely overgrown with whins. It appears to have been circular, about 57ft in diameter, but, at some remote period, the interior and east side had been entirely removed.

RCAHMS 1911, visited 1909.

The remains of a cairn generally as described. The west side survives as a stone and earth bank 6m in maximum width and 1.5m high. Elsewhere the cairn has been almost levelled and the whole site is grass and gorse covered.

Surveyed at 1:2500.

Visited by OS (R D L) 6 June 1963.

No change to proceeding reports.

Visited by OS (J M) 18 September 1980.
