NG36SE 3 399 638.

(NG 399638) Grave yard (NAT) (Small building shown in SW corner).

OS 6"map, Inverness-shire, Isle of Skye, 1st ed., (1878)

Uig church stood at the head of Uig Bay, apparently at the place now known as Clachan, (OPS 1854) in a small burial ground now filled with nettles, but of the church nothing remains (T S Muir 1885). It was possibly swept away in the flood of 1877 (RCAHMS 1928).

Visited by OS (A C) 8 November 1960; Orig Paroch Scot 1854; T S Muir 1885; RCAHMS 1928.

Much of Uig graveyard has been destroyed by the cutting of a flood relief channel and only the NW. portion of its wall, much broken down, remains. Within the undesecrated portion fragments of broken gravestones scatter the ground. The small building shown in the 1st edn. 6" falls within the area destroyed by the flood channel and no trace of it remains. The graveyard is disused.

Visited by OS (C F W) 14 April 1961.
