There was a chapel at the old house at Scarmclett. Its exact location is difficult to define, but in the vicinity is Crosback - Crosshill - evidently indicating sanctuary privileges.

D Beaton 1909.

There is no knowledge of Scarmclate (ND 199 593) of the old house of Scarmclett or a chapel.
