(NC 7247 5687) Cairn (NR)

OS 6"map, (1964)

A large, well-preserved, round cairn on a slight knoll amid field clearance (NC75NW 8), and measuring 17.5m in diameter and 3m high. Although it has been disturbed there is no evidence of a cist, chamber or kerb but it appears to have been revetted by a rubble wall (c/f NC76SW 6).

RCAHMS 1911, visited 1909; Visited by OS (J L D) 2 May 1960.

This cairn is generally as described. A slab, 1.4m by 0.8m by 0.3m lying just E of centre may have formed part of a cist or chamber. The revetting 'rubble wall' is not apparent.

Revised at 1/10,000.

Visited by OS (J B) 19 September 1977.
