NC63NE 29 662 357.

(A: NC 6624 3580) Enclosure (NR).

OS 6"map, (1963)

An enclosure (A) was discovered during field investigation.

Visited by OS (E G C) 7 May 1961.

At NC 662 357 on an undulating heather-clad slope is a settlement of three hut circles of similar form (A-C), including the "enclosure" (A) discovered by the previous field investigator. They vary in size from 9.5m to 10.5m in diameter within walls up to 0.5m high and spread to 2.5m broad. In both 'A' and 'B' inner and outer facing stones are exposed indicating a wall width of 1.4m; the wall of hut 'B' appears to expand to 3.0m spread at the entrance, whose east side is lined with three slabs. All entrances are in the south or south-east arc.

Around the huts over an area of 1 1/2 hectares is a minor field system. One lynchet and several clearance heaps bounding stone-free ground can be identified, but no measurable plots are discernible.

Surveyed at 1:10,000.

Visited by OS (N K B) 15 April 1977.
