(Centred NC 4723 5778) Cairn with megalithic cist.

Information from Dr C S Sandeman, Durness 2 March 1959.

NC 4724 5770. On level ground on the E side of Loch Hope is a ruined round cairn, the W half of which has fallen into the loch exposing a cist. The cairn measures 7.5m in diameter by 0.8m in height, and is composed of large stones covered by turf and bracken. The cist, which has been robbed, comprises a cover-stone, two side stones and one (SW) end stone. It is orientated NE-SW and measures approximately 1.3m in length, 0.4m in width at the top by 0.6m at the bottom, and 0.7m in height.
