(HY 4007 2486) Brough (NR)

OS 6"map, Orkney, 2nd ed.,(1900).

The remains of a broch, buried beneath a mound of considerable size. The outer wall can be traced for about 20 ft towards the NE on the seaward side. So far as can be judged the internal diameter has been from 25 to 30 ft and the overall diameter from 50 to 60 ft. No refuse deposit was observed in the vicinity.

RCAHMS 1946.

The remains of a broch, as described except that the outer walling is now overgrown and can only be seen for a short distance.

Resurveyed at 1/2500.

Visited by OS(RL) 7 June 1967.
