HU38NE 7 3603 8544.

At HU 3602 8545, on a steeply sloping shelf on the rocky E slope of the Beorgs of Housetter, above and slightly WSW of Trowie Knowe (HU38NE 1), there is a very small, well preserved heel-shaped cairn which Munro (R Munro 1904) calls a bee-hive hut.

It measures only 5.1m across the facade, and 5.2m from the facade to the rear of the cairn. The S half of the facade, including the corner stone, survives to a height of 0.6m; the N half has collapsed due to the weight of the cairn material and the position on a steep slope. The chamber is intact, the walling showing to a height of 1.0m.

Survey left to D.D.F. surveyor.

Visited by OS(RL) 19th May 1969; A S Henshall 1972.
