The MURRAYFIELD sank in deep water, after it ran aground on the Perie Bard of Mousa in dense fog, whilst en-route from Lerwick to Methil.

Surveying Details

28 August 1981. The Shetland sub-aqua club report that ammunition is scattered around the wreck of the MURRAYFIELD [MORAYFIELD?], which sank in 1942 at 59 59 58N, 001 09 30W approximately. The general depth varies from 4-23 metres. The Royal Navy's mine disposal team from Inverkeithing have been informed.
