NT 342 724 An excavation was carried out in February–March 2009 across the site of the former Brunton Wireworks prior to its redevelopment. The seven trenches excavated recorded an underground network of tunnels, vents, flues and associated features relating to the wireworks’ heating and steam distribution system. The recovery of waster material, marmalade jars and ginger beer bottles provided artefactural evidence for the use of the site as a dumping ground for the 19th-century Newbigging pottery.
