The location assigned to this record remains unverified. Doon Castle Point is presumably to be equated with Castle Point, which is situated about 250m S of Ardwell Point, and forms the S corner of the same headland. Doon Castle broch (NX04SE 1) is at NX 06702 44683.
UKHO chart no. 2198 (1978, revised 1987) indicates no wreck in this vicinity, but depicts the shore as dropping off to a rocky seabed at a charted depth of about 12m.
The equation of the observed wreckage with the recorded loss of the Doris is accepted.
