FIELD VISIT |
This mound is built on a narrow SE-facing terrace above the precipitous sea cliffs of Bay Hunadu. It measures 4.4m in length by 4m in breadth overall, and has boulders protruding around its edge on the NE, SE and SW. Those at the S and E corners are set on edge, and the S side is raised up to form a terrace up to 0.4m in height. There is a later pen built into the E side of the interior, which adds to the disturbed character of the remains. The mound was misidentified as a cairn (Branigan and Foster 2000). [...] |

FIELD VISIT |
Five peat-stack stands are situated amongst the peat-cuttings on the N of the local summit of Guarsay Mór. The sub-rectangular stands (MING03 100-104), each of which is bounded by a stony bank, are all aligned from NE to SW. One has been built-up at its NE end and measures 6.8m by 2.8m transversely overall (MING03 104, NL 55022 84074). There are extensive areas of turf-stripping and peat-cuttings surrounding the stands. Four stands in this area are identified (see above entries) in Branigan and Foster (2000), but, their locations and descriptions can not be rationalised with those located on the date of visit.
