RCAHMS surveyed Islay House in 1976 and prepared a phased ground-plan of the main block, a phased outline development plan and a moulding profile of the library chimney-piece. Each drawing was redrawn in ink and published at a reduced scale (RCAHMS 1984, figs. 292B, 293B and 294E.
