Mound, near Garth.

This mound, which is some 60 ft.[18.2m] long, 55 ft. [16.7m] broad, and 6 ft. [1.8m] high, stands about half a mile SW of the farm of Garth on a moorland ridge about 200ft above sea-level. Its major axis lies NW and SE. It is not marked on the OS map as an antiquity but its position suggests that it is of prehistoric date. The upper surface of the mound has been somewhat broken up by peat-cutting, but the whole is now covered with peat and heather, which prevent the determination of its internal composition.
