The remains of this eighteenth-century laird's house stand at the N edge of a rectangular enclosure immediately to the NE of Ballimore farmsteading. The WNW gable is almost intact but there are only fragmentary remains of the rest of the building; enough survives, however, to show that it measured 12.5m by 6.5m within walls 0.75m in thickness. A fireplace is visible at ground floor level in the standing gable, and the levels of the first and attic floors can also be seen, the latter marked by a scarcement.

The house is probably the substantial building depicted at 'Ballymore' on Stephen McDougall's 1748 map of Auchnacrive and Barbreck (National Archives of Scotland, RHP 962/1), and it is also shown on Langlands' 1801 map of Argyllshire (National Library of Scotland, EMS.s.326). The first edition of the OS 6-inch map (Argyllshire 1875, sheet c) depicts the building roofless, and also shows the rectangular enclosure to the S. A small pen that stands at the SW corner of the enclosure is also depicted on the 1st edition map.
