The New Garrion Bridge, which crosses the River Clyde at the hamlet of Garrion Bridge, was built to relieve congestion by working in tandem with the existing early 19th century bridge (NS75SE 65), some 45m to the N. This saw a one-way gyratory traffic flow introduced, with traffic from the W bank of the river using the old bridge to access the E bank, and traffic from the E using the new bridge to travel W. The new bridge, which opened in 2002, comprises a decking supported upon a 50m span reinforced concrete arch. The design was built in accordance with an outline design that was approved by The Royal Fine Art Commission for Scotland.
