General oblique aerial view.

A 65033

Description General oblique aerial view.

Date 1984

Collection RCAHMS Aerial Photography

Catalogue Number A 65033

Category Photographs and Off-line Digital Images

Copies SC 397916, SC 1690175

Scope and Content Stobhall, chapel, tower-house, dower house and garden, Perth and Kinross Several buildings of medieval or later date are situated on the promontory of Stobhall, and are visible in this oblique aerial photograph. A chapel is the earliest of the buildings and possibly dates to the 14th or 15th century. The tower-house was built for the Drummonds in 1578, incorporating the chapel as a ground-floor hall. In the late 16th or early 17th century a single-storeyed laundry range, with a brewhouse and a bakehouse in the basement beneath, was added to the north of the tower, and a dower house was built across the neck of the promontory.
