Scope and Content Drawing Room, No 10 Lowther Terrace, Kelvinside, Glasgow This photograph of the drawing room at No 10 Lowther Terrace, Glasgow, was taken in 1906 by the architectural photographer, Harry Bedford Lemere. The house was built in c.1900 by the Glasgow architect, James Miller, for John Traill Cargill. The drawing room has elaborate plasterwork detailing on the chimneypiece, ceiling and cornice, and is a convincing reproduction of mid-18th-century decoration. The small chair and photograph (right) have been carefully positioned for the camera. Harry Bedford Lemere (1864-1944), one of the leading architectural photographers of his day, worked under commission for architects and private owners. He carefully arranged the interiors to be photographed, until the photographic composition was right. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
