Scope and Content Outer Hall, No 10 Lowther Terrace, Kelvinside, Glasgow The interior of No 10 Lowther Terrace, Glasgow, was photographed in 1906 by the architectural photographer, Harry Bedford Lemere. The house, designed by the Glasgow architect, James Miller, was built in c.1900 for John Traill Cargill. The oak-panelled outer hall has an elaborate screen that leads to the staircase beyond, and is lit by an electric light fitting mimicking a chandelier. The furniture is rather heavy, and the flowers on the table add a much lighter touch to the room. Harry Bedford Lemere (1864-1944) worked mainly under commission for architects and private owners. His standard equipment was a mahogany and brass stand camera, with glass plate negatives, which he continued to use until his last commission in 1941. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
