Scope and Content View from north-east of Area 'A', Seaton Development, Aberdeen Built in stages between 1969 and 1972, the Seaton development was constructed using the 'Bison' pre-cast panel system, for the Housing Committee of Aberdeen Corporation. Area 'A', St Ninian's Place, consists of four 17-storeyed blocks of 296 flats. This photograph shows the tower blocks from the north-east. The blocks housing the lift machinery can be seen on the top of each building. There is dark-coloured cladding on the ground and top storeys, and a long vertical strip down the side of the block. The British 'Bison' system uses large pre-cast panels and floor slabs. It is a flexible system which can be adapted to create various types and sizes of building. It incorporates specialised units such as staircases and a pre-assembled bathroom unit. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
