Scope and Content Grovepark Mills, No 188 North Woodside Road, Glasgow These mills were established in 1857 by Mitchell & Whytlaw, power-loom manufacturers, and extended on several occasions until 1900, mainly to designs by John Gordon, an architect specialising in industrial buildings. This shows the main range of the mills from the north. This section was built in 1878, and was constructed of red and white brick in a manner typical of the period. It was a late example of a multi-storeyed power-loom weaving factory. By 1966 the works was occupied by George Stark & Sons Ltd, chromo, enamelled, and gummed papers, pasteboard, card and coated board manufacturers, under the name of the Grove Park Paper Mills. It was demolished in 1969. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
