Scope and Content Fort and temporary camps at Malling, Perth and Kinross This Roman fort and two temporary camps are at Malling. They are built on a terrace about 7 m above the W end of the Lake of Menteith. The camps lie to the S and W of the fort. This is an aerial view of the site. The fort can be seen as a cropmark in the upper part of the image. Below is a ditch which joined the SW and W corner of the two camps. The ditch is broken up by an entrance, to the right of the group of trees. The fort was discovered in 1968. Some excavation has been done, including cutting a section across the ditches. Both were the typical V-shape. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
