In 1983 exceptionally clear aerial photographs were obtained of a broad linear feature linking the western extremities of Roman temporary camps NN50SE 16 and NS59NE 13: a roughly central gate is visible. The work appears to form an outer defence for Malling Roman Fort (NN50SE 6). (Information from G S Maxwell).

A linear crop-mark has been recorded between the S corner of the Roman temporary camp NN50SE 16 at NS 560 999 and the W corner of the Roman temporary camp NS59NE 13 at NS 563 998.
