Description Excavation slides 31 slides of the 1989 excavations: 1-3: Area T: S trial excavation hole under the Blacksmith's Shop showing a patchy mortar surface over bedrock. 4-13: Area T: Detail and general views of 19th and 17th century walls, base of steps and outhouse. Detail of ventilator under steps 1302 and its junction with main N-S wall 1303. 14-24: Area T: Detail and general views of E arm of extended area, with details of walls 1311 and 1312 abutting wall 1310. Wall 1312 narrows on the line of wall 1309 (wall 1309 dates from Charles II). 25-31: Area T: 17th century storekeepers house at the base of the N wall. Note the clay deposit on top of the bedrock on the N side is cut by 1315.
