Scope and Content Broch known as Tirefour Castle at Lismore, Argyll and Bute Tirefour broch stands on the highest part of a ridge on the E coast of the island and has clear views of the surrounding countryside and sea. Two outer walls protected the NE and SW flanks. The site has not been excavated. This is a view of the remains of the broch. the lower wall is solid and the galleries do not start until 2.5 metres up. At a similar height above the original ground level is a scarcement for supporting the upper wooden floor or internal roof. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
