Scope and Content Plan of Airds House, Argyll and Bute Airds House is a well-preserved Classical mansion which was built for Donald Campbell of Airds in 1738-9. The architect is unknown but the inspiration for its design may have been derived partly from the south front of Marble Hill House in Twickenham. Airds House consists of a three-storeyed five-bayed main block with a pedimented centrepiece. There is a corridor on either side of the main block, and a round-arched door below a ball finial in each corridor. The corridors lead to two-storeyed pavilions. The pavilions have pedimented gables which are surmounted by chimney stacks, and contain central moulded bull's eye windows. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
