Scope and Content View of barn at Lochnell House home farm, Argyll and Bute The L-plan Lochnell House consists of three linked buildings dating to different periods, ranging from the late 17th to the late 19th century. The oldest part of the house was probably built for Alexander Campbell, who succeeded to the property in 1671. There is a stable court to the east of the house which dates to the second quarter of the 19th century. This barn, which is next to the stable court, may be of an earlier date, although its roof is modern. A substantial rubble-built structure, its walls are pierced with ventilation slits in a regular pattern. At the far right, part of the barn has been partitioned off to form a bull-house.
